TMB to inspect physician offices that perform office-based anesthesia
June 3rd, 2014
The Texas Medical Board (TMB) has announced that in 2014 they will begin inspecting offices of physicians registered to perform office-based anesthesia (OBA).
These inspections are in order to ensure compliance with Board Rule 192, regarding the provision of anesthesia services in outpatient settings. According to its website, TMB will provide at least 5 days notice prior to inspection. Each physician who has registered an OBA location will be required to provide information requested by TMB at, or prior to, the time of inspection.
More information is found on the TMB website, including who does and does not have to register for office-based anesthesia, the TMB definition of analgesic and anxiolytics, and the standards for outpatient settings providing anesthesia services.
